Here's what you should know about me:
- Big time hippie commie liberal. Something of an anarchist, but mostly focused on social justice. Let me be frank (you can be annette) : there are assholes in every demographic. But shit, y'all, we gotta level out the playing field.
- Medical anthropologist, concentrations in infant/maternal health, HIV/AIDS, and physical disability. I am interested in the ways in which the built environment and ACCESS (physical access, material access, access to resources/knowledge) impact health outcomes.
- Tie Dye is my favorite color.
- I have a big nose and three older sisters.
- I'm a cultural hybrid - half Persian, half Southern, all hospitality.
- 1986 - Fall 2004 : Born and raised in Corinth, MS
- Fall 2004 - May 2008 : Psychedelic Anthropology at Millsaps College
- May 2008 - Dec 2009 : Nanny Garcia in Northern Virginia
- Jan 2010 - Dec 2011 : Graduate School at the University of Memphis
- Jan 2011 : Starting my life over, end result TBA.
Here are some of the ways in which I'll be starting my life over this year:
- Health : Lawd, I have got the worst case of faux-diabetes, most recently exacerbated by the taco bell diet I followed for my last semester of grad school.
- Romance : I have a sometimes boyfriend, as in, sometimes he fills me with rage and sometimes he fills me with joy and love. He is allegedly moving to California at the end of January to pursue his dream of becoming a pot farmer.
- Professional : I just finished my MA in Applied Medical Anthropology and I'm facing several career options (great problem to have). I've got to weigh professional interests, salary and benefit packages, etc. I'm also considering my PhD, but we'll see what happens.
